
Idlewild have announced two special winter concerts celebrating 30 years since their first live performance, including a homecoming show at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on Friday, 18 December. The alt-rock band will then play London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Saturday, 19 December.
Idlewild played their debut concert at Edinburgh’s Subway Club in January 1996. Announcing the anniversary dates on Instagram, the band reflected on where it all began, writing: “Thirty years later, to celebrate this anniversary, we are pleased to announce two very special shows at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on Friday 18th December and London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Sat 19th December.”
The newly announced concerts follow a busy year for the group, who toured in support of their self-titled 10th studio album and joined My Chemical Romance for their Glasgow show. They also performed at Bearded Theory and alongside Embrace at Halifax’s Piece Hall.

Before the anniversary dates, Idlewild will appear at Arbroath Music and Food Festival on 1 August before returning to Glasgow for Summer Nights at Kelvingrove Bandstand on 13 August, giving Scottish fans two more chances to see the band live this year.
Tickets for the Edinburgh and London shows go on general sale here at 10am on Friday, 31 July. Fans can also register for presale access beginning at 10am on Wednesday, 29 July.
