Disney has released the official trailer for Camp Rock 3, bringing Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas back to the franchise 18 years after the original film first premiered. The new movie arrives on Disney+ on 14 August and follows Connect 3 as they return to Camp Rock after losing the opening act for a major reunion tour. Their plan is to find the next big thing among a new generation of campers, with the winner earning the chance to join the band on the road. As the campers compete for the opportunity, friendships are tested, tensions rise and unexpected alliances begin to form. There are also new romances and revelations along the way, because this would not be Camp Rock without at least one emotionally dramatic musical number.
The trailer introduces the new group of performers while bringing back the familiar camp setting, musical rivalry and big-stage ambition at the heart of the original films.
Joe Jonas returns as Shane Gray, alongside Nick Jonas as Nate Gray and Kevin Jonas as Jason Gray, while Maria Canals-Barrera is also back as Connie. Joining the franchise are Liamani Segura as Sage, Malachi Barton as Fletch, Lumi Pollack as Rosie, Hudson Stone as Desi, Casey Trotter as Cliff, Brooklynn Pitts as Callie and Ava Jean as Madison, with Sherry Cola playing Lark.
Directed by Veronica Rodriguez and written by Eydie Faye, Camp Rock 3 is produced by Disney Kids & Family and features choreography by Jamal Sims. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series creator Tim Federle executive produces alongside Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas, Demi Lovato, Betsy Sullenger, Spencer Berman and Gary Marsh.
The original Camp Rock premiered in 2008 and introduced audiences to Mitchie, Shane and a summer camp filled with young musicians hoping to find their sound. Its success was followed by Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam in 2010, with both films becoming major Disney Channel favourites and their songs continuing to find new audiences through streaming and social media. The third film brings the franchise into a new era while retaining one of its biggest connections to the originals through the return of Connect 3.
The first single from the film, One Beat Away, is performed by Liamani Segura and the cast and is available now across major streaming platforms. The full digital soundtrack will be released alongside the film on 14 August, with the vinyl edition following on 18 September.
At CultureCues, seeing Connect 3 walk back into Camp Rock after all these years is giving us all the nostalgia… Suddenly, we are 14 again! Also, just seeing Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas listed alongside Demi Lovato as executive producers on the official poster is making us a little emosh. We will definitely miss Mitchie on screen, but the new cast looks brilliant and the new movie gives them the chance to make Camp Rock their own, while the Jonas Brothers’ return gives longtime fans plenty to get excited about.
