Filming has begun on the fourth series of BBC sitcom Here We Go, with the Jessop family officially heading back to BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Created by and starring Tom Basden, the BAFTA-winning comedy will return for a new six-part series produced by BBC Studios Comedy. Basden is back alongside Jim Howick, Katherine Parkinson, Alison Steadman, Freya Parks, Jude Morgan-Collie, Tori Allen-Martin, Mica Ricketts, Ed Kear and Jon Furlong.
Series 4 will once again follow the Jessops through everyday family disasters, awkward milestones and the kind of situations that never seem to go smoothly for them. This time, the family will face a graduation, a birthday party, a surprise snail allergy and an eventful fun run.
Rachel, played by Katherine Parkinson, is graduating and taking her first steps into political protest, while Paul, played by Jim Howick, continues to struggle on as an undervalued policeman. He also tries his hand at painting and decorating, which sounds like exactly the sort of decision this family may come to regret.

Robin, played by Basden, is continuing his entrepreneurial campaign and trying to impress Dragons’ Den, while also buying a property he knows very little about. Cherry, played by Tori Allen-Martin, is juggling life with baby Atlas while practising her new make-up artist skills.
Elsewhere, Amy, played by Freya Parks, is looking for a fresh start, a job and some kind of escape from the rest of her family. Sue, played by Alison Steadman, is having trouble sleeping, but still finds time to make a lethal home-brew. Sam, played by Jude Morgan-Collie, is once again there to capture the mess in close-up.
Basden said: “Working with such an incredible comedy cast is a pleasure and a privilege so I’m thrilled to be bringing Here We Go back to the BBC for a fourth time. We’ve only just started shooting but it’s already shaping up to be the best series yet!”
Here We Go is a BBC Studios Comedy production for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, with BBC Studios handling global sales. It was commissioned by Jon Petrie, BBC Director of Comedy. Executive producers are Josh Cole, Will Sinclair, Tom Basden and Steven Canny, with Gregor Sharp as commissioning editor for the BBC.
For CultureCues, this is lovely news for fans of BBC comedy. Here We Go works because it is so relatable and understands family dynamics so well, finding humour in the ups and downs of everyday life. With the cast back together and another round of Jessop family disasters on the way, we cannot wait for Series 4.
All previous episodes of Here We Go are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer. Series 4 will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with further details to be announced.
