U2 have released “Street of Dreams,” the first single from their upcoming studio album. Produced by longtime collaborator Jacknife Lee, the track marks the first taste of the band’s next full album of original material, which is expected to arrive later this year. It will be U2’s first studio album of new songs since Songs of Experience came out in 2017, making this their first full album era in nearly a decade.

A music video for the single has also been released, shot in Mexico City while the band were attending the 2026 Street Child World Cup Finals at Parque Ecológico Lago de Texcoco. Filmed near Plaza Santo Domingo, it sees Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr performing in the street as a crowd gathers around them. The shoot also came with an unexpected twist. After heavy rain caused the band’s generator to fail, a local family reportedly welcomed U2 into their apartment, allowing them to continue filming from the balcony.

“Street of Dreams” arrives after a busy year of new music from the band. Earlier in 2026, U2 released the six-song EPs Days of Ash and Easter Lily, while Bono previously told fans the band were working towards a “noisy, messy, unreasonably colorful” album built to be played live.

The new album will also be released around a major milestone for the band, as U2 mark 50 years since forming in Dublin in 1976. Larry Mullen Jr, who missed the band’s Sphere residency in Las Vegas while recovering from neck surgery, is back with the group for this new chapter.

For CultureCues, “Street of Dreams” feels like a strong return from U2. It has that big, open-hearted energy the band do best, but there is a freshness too. The Edge’s guitar gives the song its drive, while Bono’s lyrics keep the message clear: keep going, keep reaching, do not let fear stop you. Fans may hear flashes of classic U2, but this does not sound like a band only looking backwards. After years of revisiting their past, “Street of Dreams” sounds like U2 moving into a new chapter. All the doors are open, and they sound ready to walk through them.
