Apple TV has announced Guilty Creatures, a new true-crime thriller starring and executive produced by Julia Garner. The series is based on Mikita Brottman’s book Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida, which explores a torrid romance, an act of murder and the emotional toll of living as killers for 18 years. One for true-crime readers to keep on their radar.
Garner, a three-time Emmy Award and Golden Globe winner, is best known for her role as Ruth Langmore in Ozark. Her recent credits also include Weapons, Wolf Man and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Guilty Creatures is produced for Apple TV by Tomorrow Studios, an ITV Studios partner. Craig Gillespie, whose credits include I, Tonya, Cruella, and Apple TV’s Your Friends & Neighbors, will direct and executive produce the series. Stuart Zicherman (The Shrink Next Door, The Americans) will serve as showrunner and executive producer, with Sarah DeLappe (Bodies Bodies Bodies, The Regime) adapting the book for screen.
For CultureCues, Julia Garner is excellent casting for Guilty Creatures. The premise is interesting, the true-crime angle already has our attention, and with Craig Gillespie directing and Stuart Zicherman showrunning, there is a strong creative team behind it too. This one is going straight on the Apple TV watchlist.
Guilty Creatures is coming to Apple TV, with a release date still to be announced.
