Beyoncé has surprise-released a new song, “Morning Dew (Donk),” giving the BeyHive a 4 July treat and officially starting the countdown to the 20th anniversary reissue of B’Day. The track is now available on streaming platforms and will feature on the upcoming anniversary edition of Beyoncé’s second solo album, which was originally released on 4 September 2006, her 25th birthday.
Written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, “Morning Dew (Donk)” was produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell. It marks her first new material since 2024’s Cowboy Carter, making the release feel even bigger for fans who definitely did not have “surprise Beyoncé drop” casually sitting on their bingo card.
According to Parkwood Entertainment, the song begins a 60-day countdown to the B’Day reissue and is a direct nod to Beyoncé’s loyal BeyHive. It also arrives with a lyric video made from older footage, directed by frequent collaborator Cliff Watts.
B’Day remains one of Beyoncé’s defining early solo eras. The album debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 and gave fans singles including “Déjà Vu,” “Ring the Alarm” and “Irreplaceable.” In the UK, it peaked at No. 3 on the Official Albums Charts, with “Déjà Vu,” Reaching No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart.
For CultureCues, Beyoncé revisiting B’Day already has serious nostalgia power, but pairing the anniversary countdown with a new track makes this feel bigger than a standard reissue. The BeyHive has been fed, the group chat is officially in all caps, and we will now be refreshing for whatever comes next.
