Taylor Swift has announced her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, revealing the project live on stage at the 2024 Grammy Awards while accepting Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights and instantly sending fans into a frenzy.
Swift confirmed that the album would arrive on 19 April, later sharing the cover artwork and a handwritten note on social media that framed the new era in typically poetic fashion. The record follows Midnights and arrives after a huge period for Swift, with the Eras Tour continuing to dominate and her re-recording project still in motion.
Early details suggest The Tortured Poets Department will include 16 tracks, with some editions also featuring a bonus song titled The Manuscript. Even from the title alone, the album already points towards something intimate, literary and emotionally loaded, which is only likely to add to the anticipation surrounding it.
For CultureCues, The Tortured Poets Department already feels like one of the most intriguing album announcements of the year, and there is little doubt fans will be counting down the days until April. As a huge Taylor fan, I was right there freaking out with the rest of the Swifties when the announcement dropped.
The Tortured Poets Department is set for release on 19 April.
