Strictly Come Dancing star Jaime Winstone has been forced to miss this weekend’s live show after suffering a torn abdominal muscle, with doctors advising her to rest while she recovers. The actress, who is partnered with professional dancer Carlos Gu, will not perform on Saturday 7 November, although the BBC has confirmed that the couple will receive a bye through to next week’s competition.
The news comes just days after Jaime and Carlos survived the show’s first-ever three-way dance-off during Halloween Week, which saw them compete against Bethany Antonia and Nancy Xu, and Lawrence Robb and Jowita Przystał. The judges ultimately chose to save Jaime and Bethany, with Emmerdale actor Lawrence becoming the fifth celebrity eliminated from this year’s competition.

Now, Jaime faces another setback in her Strictly journey, having confirmed that she is experiencing considerable pain and has been advised to take a break from dancing to allow her injury to heal.
Jaime Winstone Shares Statement Following Strictly Injury
In a statement released by the BBC, Jaime explained how disappointed she was to be missing this weekend’s show, while thanking viewers for their continued support. “I am absolutely devastated not to be dancing this weekend due to a torn abdominal muscle. I am in considerable pain, and my doctors have advised complete rest to give my body the best possible chance to heal. As frustrating as it is, I have to put my health first and follow their advice to step away from dancing this week. I love every moment of dancing and performing with Carlos, and I am praying for a speedy recovery so that I can continue this magical journey.”
Jaime also thanked everyone who has supported her throughout the competition, wishing her fellow contestants luck for Saturday night’s performances and expressing her hope of returning soon.
Will Jaime Winstone Return to Strictly Come Dancing?
Although Jaime will miss this weekend’s live show, she has not withdrawn from the competition. Under Strictly Come Dancing rules, contestants who are unable to perform due to injury or illness can receive a bye through to the following week.
A spokesperson for the BBC confirmed: “Due to injury, Jaime Winstone has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, she will not dance in this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing. In line with the rules of the show, Jaime and Carlos will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish Jaime the very best as she continues her recovery.”
This means Jaime and Carlos will automatically progress to the next stage of the competition without performing or facing the public vote this weekend. However, their return to the ballroom will depend on Jaime’s recovery, with the BBC yet to confirm whether she will be fit enough to dance next week.
For CultureCues, it’s such a shame to hear that Jaime has been injured, especially after she and Carlos made it through that tense Halloween Week dance-off. Of course, her health has to come first, and we hope she gets the rest she needs and makes a good recovery. Fingers crossed we’ll see Jaime and Carlos back on the dance floor next week.
