Hollywood’s biggest night returned to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for the 98th Academy Awards, celebrating the best films and performances of the past year.

Leading the evening was Paul Thomas Anderson’s action-drama One Battle After Another, which emerged as the biggest winner of the night with six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing and Best Casting. Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for her powerful performance in Hamnet, while Michael B. Jordan took home Best Actor for Sinners.

The ceremony, hosted once again by comedian Conan O’Brien, delivered a mix of major wins, historic firsts and even a rare tie. One of the night’s most unusual moments came in the Best Live Action Short Film category, where both The Singers and Two People Exchanging Saliva were awarded the Oscar after an unexpected tie.

This year’s ceremony also introduced a new competitive category, Best Casting, expanding the total number of Oscars presented to 24. The inaugural award went to Cassandra Kulukundis for her work on One Battle After Another.

Ryan Coogler’s vampire thriller Sinners also had a strong showing, winning Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography. Animation fans celebrated KPop Demon Hunters, which won both Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, while Frankenstein dominated several craft categories including Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling and Production Design.
