A creative lens on film, TV, and culture.

Dearest gentle reader… Bridgerton Season 3 has finally graced our screens (well, the first four episodes, at least), and what a return it’s been. The long-awaited #PolinSeason has delivered stolen glances, quiet heartbreaks, and one particularly steamy carriage ride that’s got the ton talking. Elsewhere, Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton, Anthony and Kate, are back, glowing with newlywed bliss.

A Glow-Up and a Slow-Burn Payoff

Penelope Featherington’s transformation, both physical and emotional, takes centre stage as she sheds her wallflower status and steps boldly into society, catching Colin’s eye in the process. Nicola Coughlan shines, giving Pen a newfound confidence while keeping her trademark warmth and endearing awkwardness that made her so beloved from the start.

Colin, meanwhile, returns from his travels presenting a polished new persona: charming, composed, yet clearly changed since that kiss, the tender, quietly perfect moment that made him realise what’s been in front of him all along. Luke Newton captures that slow awakening with heartfelt sincerity and a perfectly measured dose of yearning.

Secrets and Shifting Friendships

While romance blossoms, tensions rise elsewhere. Eloise’s unexpected friendship with Cressida Cowper is as baffling as it is fascinating — a pairing no one saw coming, yet strangely compelling to watch unfold. It’s clear Eloise still feels the sting of Penelope’s Whistledown betrayal, and their once-unbreakable bond remains heartbreakingly fractured (we just need them to be best friends again, please!). The distance between them hangs over every scene, making their eventual reconciliation feel both inevitable and deeply emotional. Meanwhile, Benedict continues to charm his way through society, even as he tries (and fails) to escape the eager groups of ladies who flock toward him. His reluctant dances and easy wit hint that his own story is only just beginning.

Let’s not beat around the bush. Episode 4 ends with that scene. The tension, the confessions, the hands, it really did give us everything (yes, that was a Pitbull pun). Everything fans have been waiting for, and then some. When Colin stops the carriage and finally gives in to his built-up desire, it’s pure Bridgerton perfection: breathless, electric, and utterly unforgettable. The internet shattered, hearts combusted, and Penelope? Positively radiant.

What begins as a heated exchange soon becomes something far more vulnerable. Colin confesses his feelings not with polished charm, but with aching sincerity, saying: “Feelings like dreaming of you when I’m asleep and in fact preferring sleep because that is where I might find you.”

It’s the kind of declaration that stops time. Penelope, wide-eyed and emotional, realises in that moment that the man she’s loved for so long finally sees her, not just as a friend but as the woman he can’t stop thinking about.

Between the tearful gazes, trembling hands, and soft-spoken honesty, it’s a standout moment that will go down as one of Bridgerton’s most romantic scenes yet. And yes, it ends with passion, but it’s the confession that truly takes our breath away. Then, just when fans thought their hearts couldn’t take any more, Colin asks Penelope to marry him — the ultimate cliffhanger that leaves the ton (and us) desperate for Part Two.

What’s Still to Come?

With Part Two arriving on 13 June 2025, viewers can likely expect heightened emotions and long-held secrets inching closer to the surface. How these revelations will impact Colin and Penelope’s growing romance is anyone’s guess, but the journey promises to be compelling.

Until then, we’ll be rewatching that kiss, that confession, and that carriage ride on repeat, because this season? It’s everything. #PolinSeason.
