Clarkson’s Farm series 5 is now streaming on Prime Video, with the first four episodes of the hit UK Original available from today, 3 June. The eight-part series will be released in three weekly batches, with episodes 5-6 arriving on 10 June and episodes 7-8 following on 17 June.

The new series opens with Jeremy Clarkson facing a major health scare, leaving him under strict doctors’ orders to slow down. Naturally, life at Diddly Squat Farm has other ideas. The new episodes see a flock of Easy Care sheep arrive to help lighten the load, while ongoing issues at the pub, its first festive season and a government budget that sends shockwaves through the UK farming community make rest almost impossible.

The series also takes a more high-tech turn this time around, as a visit to the UK’s biggest agricultural expo inspires Clarkson to explore the future of farming. That leads Kaleb Cooper on his first journey abroad, with a road trip to the Netherlands introducing him to cutting-edge farms and the rise of agricultural machines.

Image Credit: Jeremy Clarkson and Kaleb Cooper © Prime Video

For CultureCues, Clarkson’s Farm remains one of Prime Video’s most watchable UK originals because it makes the pressure of life at Diddly Squat genuinely entertaining, while still showing how difficult farming can be. Series 5 seems to lean into that, with pub troubles, farming headaches and new technology all adding to Jeremy Clarkson’s workload, while Kaleb Cooper continues to react to it all with exactly the level of disbelief viewers have come to expect. We will be tuning in to see what drama Diddly Squat brings this series.

Clarkson’s Farm series 5 is streaming now on Prime Video, with new episodes arriving weekly until 17 June.

Disney+ has revealed a first look clip from Alice and Steve, the new British “wrong-com” starring Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement. The six-part Hulu Original series from the UK will stream exclusively on Disney+ from Monday 8 June, with Joel Fry and Yali Topol Margalith also among the cast.

The series follows Alice, played by Walker, whose life is thrown into deeply uncomfortable territory when her best friend Steve, played by Clement, starts dating her 26-year-old daughter Izzy. In the newly released clip, Steve arrives for dinner as Izzy’s boyfriend for the first time, while Alice tries, and very much fails, to hide how horrified she is by the whole situation. The scene sets up the central tension of the series, with Alice making her first attempt to bring the relationship to an end. Unfortunately for her, Steve is ready for the fight, and what begins as a close friendship soon turns into a full-blown feud.

Created and written by Sophie Goodhart, whose credits include Rivals and Sex Education, Alice and Steve is directed by BAFTA-winner Tom Kingsley, known for Stath Lets Flats. The series comes from Clerkenwell Films, the production company behind Baby Reindeer, with Petra Fried, Andy Baker and Wim de Greef executive producing alongside a strong creative team. Fran du Pille serves as producer.

For CultureCues, Alice and Steve has the kind of painfully awkward British comedy set-up that instantly makes us curious. The first look clip points to a series that understands how funny forced politeness can be when everyone in the room is trying very hard not to say what they are thinking. With Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement at the centre of it, this already has all the makings of a show we will be watching through our fingers, laughing at the discomfort, and waiting to see how much worse things can get.

Alice and Steve streams exclusively on Disney+ from Monday 8 June.

Rebus is officially back in production, with filming now underway on the second series of the BBC crime drama in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Richard Rankin returns as Detective John Rebus in the acclaimed adaptation of Ian Rankin’s best-selling novels, with the new six-part series set to arrive on BBC iPlayer, BBC One and BBC Scotland in 2027.

The second series will once again be written by Gregory Burke and produced by Eleventh Hour Films. According to the BBC, the new episodes will continue to explore Rebus’s complex world as he navigates Scottish crime and personal conflict, with series two examining the links between violent criminals and the professional world of law and finance, where power and danger often overlap.

A number of new cast members have also been confirmed for the upcoming series. John Michie, known for Taggart, Coronation Street, Holby City, Karen Pirie and Ridley, joins the cast alongside Stephen McCole, Emily Barber, Lorne MacFadyen, Conor Berry, Ivan Ivashkin, Olga Safronova, Douglas Russell, Alexis Rodney, Reece Montague and Joshua Haynes.

They will appear alongside returning cast members including Brian Ferguson as Michael Rebus, Lucie Shorthouse as DC Siobhan Clarke, Amy Manson as Rhona Moncrieffe, Neshla Caplan as Chrissie Rebus, Stuart Bowman as Ger Cafferty, Noof Ousellam as Darryl Christie, Thoren Ferguson as Malcolm Fox, Mia McKenzie as Sammy Rebus, Andrew John Tait as Neil MacKenzie and Cassidy Little as Cammy.

“There’s a real sense of excitement about stepping back into Rebus’ world. We were incredibly fortunate with the team we assembled for the first series, and it’s a genuine pleasure to be returning alongside so many familiar faces, both in front of and behind the camera. At the same time, we’re welcoming some fantastic new talent this season, and it’s already exciting to see the energy, ideas and depth they’re bringing to the story.”
Richard Rankin

Rankin also reflected on the appeal of playing Rebus, describing him as a “richly complex character” who is “fiercely driven, deeply flawed, endlessly determined and often at war with himself.” He added: “Returning to him, there’s still so much to discover, with many, many layers of the character left to explore. This next chapter promises to challenge him in ways that I’m really looking forward to bringing to life.”

The first series of Rebus launched in full on BBC iPlayer in 2024 and proved a strong performer for the broadcaster. Its debut episode attracted 6.3 million viewers across all platforms, while the series went on to win three RTS Scotland awards for Best Drama, Writer and Director.

For CultureCues, this is exactly the kind of Scottish crime drama we love to see. Rebus already has a strong literary legacy behind it, but the BBC adaptation gave the character a grittier edge without losing the weight of Ian Rankin’s world. With filming taking place across Edinburgh and Glasgow, a strong returning cast and some recognisable new faces joining the series, this second chapter already feels like it has plenty to build on.

There is also something especially exciting about seeing BBC Scotland continue to build out its drama slate, with Rebus sitting alongside titles including Shetland, Vigil, Granite Harbour, Counsels, Half Man, Sutherland, The Young Team and Grams. Basically, more brooding Scottish crime, more Richard Rankin as Rebus and more Edinburgh atmosphere? We will be tuning in. Series 1 is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

Rebus series 2 will air on BBC iPlayer, BBC One and BBC Scotland in 2027.

Mindy Kaling’s new comedy Not Suitable for Work has premiered on Disney+ in the UK. The series launched today, 2 June, with its first three episodes. Two new episodes will then roll out weekly, with the finale set to arrive on 23 June. In the US, the series is streaming on Hulu. Disney+ confirmed the UK rollout earlier this year, with the show launching exclusively on the platform in the UK.

Created by Kaling, Not Suitable for Work follows five work-obsessed twenty-somethings trying to build successful careers while also attempting to have personal lives in Manhattan’s Murray Hill neighbourhood.

The series stars Ella Hunt, Avantika, Will Angus, Jack Martin, Nicholas Duvernay and Jay Ellis. Recurring guest stars include Victor Garber, Greg Germann, Judy Gold, Ego Nwodim, Harry Richardson, Constance Wu, Laura Bell Bundy, May Hong, Bhavesh Patel, Emilia Suárez and Michael Benjamin Washington.

Kaling executive produces alongside showrunner Charlie Grandy, whose previous credits include The Sex Lives of College Girls and The Mindy Project, as well as 3 Arts Entertainment’s Howard Klein. The series is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television.

For CultureCues, Not Suitable for Work sounds like an easy streaming pick if you enjoy comedies built around twenty-something friendship groups, work drama and people trying to figure life out while making questionable choices. We are always here for a show that can fill a little bit of the Friends or How I Met Your Mother gap, especially if it gives us something to laugh at and maybe get unexpectedly invested in. Either way, we’re looking forward to watching, and we’ll be sharing our review soon.

The first three episodes of Not Suitable for Work are streaming now on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.

Apple TV has released the trailer for Silo season 3 today, 2 June, giving fans a new look at the dystopian drama ahead of its July return. The 10-episode third season will premiere on Apple TV on 3 July, with one new episode arriving every Friday through 4 September. Rebecca Ferguson returns as Juliette Nichols, while also executive producing the series. Silo has already been renewed for a fourth and final season, meaning season 3 marks the beginning of the show’s final stretch towards its endgame.

Created by Graham Yost and based on Hugh Howey’s bestselling trilogy, Silo follows a society of 10,000 people living underground under mysterious circumstances. Season 3 appears to introduce a split timeline, continuing Juliette’s story in the present while also revealing an origin story set centuries earlier.

The trailer confirms Juliette survived her forced “cleaning”, but she returns with memory loss as the silo recovers from rebellion and faces another dangerous threat. In the footage, Juliette admits that she does not recognise the person looking back at her in the mirror, suggesting the new season will push her into an even more uncertain place. The new season will also explore the “Before Times”, following journalist Helen Drew, played by Jessica Henwick, and Congressman Daniel Keene, played by Ashley Zukerman, as they uncover a conspiracy with devastating consequences for the world above.

Returning cast members include Common, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Alexandria Riley, Shane McRae, Remmie Milner, Rick Gomez, Billy Postlethwaite, Clare Perkins and Steve Zahn, who returns as Jimmy/Solo. New additions for season 3 include Laura Innes, Jessica Brown Findlay, Morven Christie, Reed Birney and Matt Craven, with Colin Hanks set to recur.

For CultureCues, Silo remains one of Apple TV’s strongest sci-fi dramas, and the new trailer suggests season 3 is widening the story in a really interesting way. Juliette’s fight for the truth was already compelling, but adding the “Before Times” gives the series a chance to dig into how this world was built in the first place. We are very much ready to head back underground.

Silo season 3 premieres on Apple TV on 3 July.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 has officially set its Starz premiere date. The romantic prequel series will return on 18 September, with Starz also releasing the first teaser for the new season today, 1 June, to mark World Outlander Day. The date marks the anniversary of Diana Gabaldon’s first Outlander novel, making it a very fitting day for fans to get fresh news from the wider Outlander universe.

Season 1 introduced viewers to the love stories of Claire and Jamie’s parents, following Julia Beauchamp, played by Hermione Corfield, and Henry Beauchamp, played by Jeremy Irvine, as well as Brian Fraser, played by Jamie Roy, and Ellen MacKenzie, played by Harriet Slater, across different time periods.

After Henry and Julia were separated in 18th century Scotland, the first season ended with the pair finally reunited at the standing stones of Craigh na Dun. They hoped to return to their own time and their young daughter, Claire, but the new teaser suggests things have not gone smoothly. The footage shows Julia alone with their baby, while Henry is left struggling after being separated from the woman he loves.

Brian and Ellen also return after their forbidden relationship faced huge pressure from both families. Their escape was interrupted by the beginning of the 1715 Jacobite Rising, pulling the clans towards war and forcing the couple to reckon with duty as well as desire.

The cast also includes Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan. Matthew B. Roberts serves as showrunner for both Outlander and Outlander: Blood of My Blood. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

For CultureCues, this is very welcome news. We loved Outlander, really enjoyed the first season of Blood of My Blood, and we’re very happy to see it heading back to our screens. There’s also an extra wee bit of joy, as a Scottish writer, in seeing the series return to the Highlands while continuing to explore the family history behind Claire and Jamie. Standing stones, forbidden love and a September return date? Aye, we’ll be watching.

Euphoria is officially over, and yes, we may need a minute with that one. After seven years, three seasons and 26 episodes, HBO has confirmed that the drama will not return for a fourth season. Creator, writer and director Sam Levinson announced the news on Popcast, The New York Times’ music podcast, with HBO later confirming that the season 3 finale was the show’s final episode.

That means the season 3 closer, titled “In God We Trust”, now stands as the series finale.

The news may not come as a huge surprise to fans, even if it still feels strange to see it confirmed. Euphoria had faced a long gap between seasons 2 and 3, with several of its cast members becoming even bigger names during the break and production repeatedly shifting along the way. Zendaya had also suggested in interviews that she believed the third season would bring Rue’s story, and the wider series, to a close.

The HBO drama followed Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya, and the people around her as they struggled with addiction, love, friendship, loss and the pressure of trying to understand themselves under constant scrutiny. Season 3 moved the story beyond high school with a time jump, allowing the series to look at what happens when the past follows these characters into adulthood.

The wider cast included Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Eric Dane, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace and Colman Domingo.

For CultureCues, Euphoria ending after season 3 feels like the close of a major TV chapter. The series was controversial at times, and its final run will no doubt divide opinion, but there is no denying how huge that first season became. It got people talking in a way few teen dramas manage, and it helped launch several of its cast into a much bigger spotlight. Whether fans feel satisfied by the ending or not, this does feel like a natural place to leave it, with the actors now moving into the next stage of their careers.

We’ll be sharing our full Euphoria season 3 review on CultureCues soon.

Euphoria is available to stream on HBO Max.

Netflix has released the full trailer for I Will Find You, the new Harlan Coben thriller arriving on 18 June. The eight-part series stars Sam Worthington as David Burroughs, a father serving life for the murder of his young son, Matthew. David insists he is innocent, but his life changes when his former sister-in-law Rachel, played by Britt Lower, brings him evidence suggesting Matthew may still be alive.

That discovery sends David on a desperate mission to uncover the truth, forcing him to break out of prison and search for his son while the police close in. Milo Ventimiglia also stars as Hayden, Rachel’s ex-partner, who becomes involved in the hunt. The wider cast includes Logan Browning, Erin Richards, Jonathan Tucker, Chi McBride, Madeleine Stowe and Clancy Brown.

Adapted from Coben’s 2023 novel of the same name, I Will Find You comes from showrunner and creator Robert Hull. Coben executive produces through Final Twist Productions, alongside Hull, Bryan Wynbrandt, Steven Lilien and John Weber. The series continues Netflix’s ongoing run of Coben adaptations, which have become a reliable home for twist-heavy mysteries and bingeable crime thrillers.

The trailer sets up a classic Coben-style mystery, with a grieving father, a possible conspiracy and the kind of central question that immediately pulls viewers in: what really happened to David’s son?

For CultureCues, this already has all the makings of a proper Netflix binge-watch. Harlan Coben adaptations are built for that “just one more episode” feeling, and I Will Find You seems ready to deliver the kind of twisty, high-stakes thriller that works perfectly on a streaming queue. We will absolutely be pressing play.

I Will Find You arrives on Netflix on 18 June.

Netflix has shared its June 2026 lineup, and the streamer is clearly giving viewers plenty to work through as summer begins. The month brings a mix of new films, returning favourites, documentaries and thrillers, with several titles likely to end up straight on the watchlist.

Among the biggest highlights is Voicemails for Isabelle, starring Zoey Deutch as Jill, a San Francisco chef who leaves messages for her late sister, only for the number to be reassigned to Wes, played by Nick Robinson. The film arrives on 19 June and sounds like one of the month’s more heartfelt romantic picks, with the kind of strange-but-sweet premise that could make it a proper comfort watch.

Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein also lead Office Romance, arriving on 5 June. The workplace romantic comedy follows a powerful CEO and her airline’s newest lawyer as their secret relationship starts to complicate both their personal lives and the business around them. With Lopez back in rom-com territory and Goldstein bringing his usual dry charm, this feels like one of Netflix’s big glossy film plays for the month.

For thriller fans, I Will Find You arrives on 18 June. Adapted from Harlan Coben’s novel, the eight-part series stars Sam Worthington, Britt Lower and Milo Ventimiglia, following a father serving life for a crime he insists he did not commit. When new evidence suggests the truth may be far more complicated, the series turns into the kind of fast-moving mystery Coben fans will likely have on their watchlist immediately.

June also brings the return of Avatar: The Last Airbender, with season 2 arriving on 25 June. The new season follows Aang as he works to master earthbending while the Earth Kingdom brings its own political dangers. Elsewhere, Little Brother arrives on 26 June, with John Cena and Eric André starring in a comedy about a successful realtor whose life is upended by the sudden return of his unpredictable sibling.

The month also brings new seasons of Sweet Magnolias and AMERICA’S SWEETHEARTS: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, giving Netflix a mix of comfort drama and behind-the-scenes reality. On the documentary side, highlights include The American Experiment, the World Cup-focused USA 94: Brazil’s Return to Glory, Trainwreck: Mayor of Mayhem and true-crime film Maternal Instinct.

For CultureCues, June is looking like a strong month for Netflix. Between the new films, returning favourites and a few very bingeable-looking thrillers, there should be plenty to keep the watchlist busy over the next few weeks. We’ll definitely be making room on the sofa for a few of these.

HBO has released the final trailer for House of the Dragon season 3, and Westeros is not exactly entering its calm era. The new trailer, released on 29 May, offers a fiery look at the next chapter of the Game of Thrones prequel, as the Dance of the Dragons moves fully into open war. Rhaenyra Targaryen, played by Emma D’Arcy, appears ready to claim King’s Landing, while Daemon Targaryen, played by Matt Smith, is seen in the middle of the bloodshed as the battle for the Iron Throne grows even more brutal.

Season 3 will continue the civil war between the Blacks and the Greens, with Rhaenyra still fighting for the crown and Aegon II, played by Tom Glynn-Carney, remaining a dangerous figure in the conflict. The trailer also puts Aemond Targaryen, played by Ewan Mitchell, firmly in the spotlight, with Vhagar once again making the case that one dragon can cause a truly unreasonable amount of damage.

The footage shows King’s Landing under threat, dragons flying over the city, banners being torn down and Alicent Hightower, played by Olivia Cooke, warning that “the crown is a weight that crushes.” It is exactly the kind of line House of the Dragon does best, especially when this family keeps proving it true.

There are also glimpses of major battle sequences, including ships burning at sea and dragons being used as weapons on a huge scale. With the Dance of the Dragons now fully underway, season 3 appears ready to bring the Targaryen war to its most devastating stage.

For CultureCues, this is exactly the kind of final trailer fans have been waiting for. Political scheming can only hold for so long, and House of the Dragon has always been building towards the point where years of family resentment finally turn into fire. The footage suggests season 3 is ready to make Westeros pay for every bad choice made in the Red Keep. At this point, the Iron Throne might be the worst job in television. Great chair, terrible work-life balance. Either way, we’ll be tuning in. Probably stressed, but tuning in.

House of the Dragon season 3 premieres on HBO and HBO Max in the US on 21 June. In the UK, the new season streams weekly from 22 June on NOW and Sky Atlantic.

Netflix’s new reality series Calabasas Confidential is now streaming, with all eight episodes of Season 1 available from 29 May. The series follows a group of Calabasas High School alums as they return home after college, where old relationships, unresolved drama and unexpected secrets resurface.

Set in one of Los Angeles’ most talked-about suburbs, the show centres on a group of lifelong friends, exes and rivals who are back living in their parents’ hillside mansions after four years apart. Fresh out of college, they are faced with the awkward reality of figuring out what comes next while dealing with the people and problems they thought they had left behind. The Season 1 cast includes Alexie Olivo, Ben Favaedi, Dylan Wolf, Emilie Nelson, Emma Medrano, Hercy Miller, Jemma Durrant, Jodie Woods, Kimora Lewis, Nicole Sahebi, Preston Pippen, Raine Michaels, Sterling Retzlaff and Suede Brooks.

The series leans into the world of sun-soaked parties, gated estates, beach days and complicated hometown dynamics, with the group forced to face who they were in high school and who they are becoming now. In true reality TV fashion, four years of distance does not mean the drama has disappeared… it has been waiting behind the gates of LA’s most envied zip code.

For CultureCues, Calabasas Confidential looks like easy reality TV viewing in the best way. We will happily sit with our popcorn, watch the drama and tension unfold, and probably end up rooting for a few romances between past exes who may not be quite as over each other as they think.

Apple TV’s new sci-fi thriller Star City is now streaming, launching today with its first two episodes. The series expands the world of For All Mankind with an alternate-history story told from the Soviet perspective, exploring the space race from behind the Iron Curtain.

Set within the same ambitious timeline as For All Mankind, Star City goes back to the moment when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon. This time, however, the focus shifts to the cosmonauts, engineers and intelligence officers working inside the Soviet space programme, where ambition, paranoia and political pressure all appear to play a major role.

Rhys Ifans, Anna Maxwell Martin and Agnes O’Casey lead the cast, with Alice Englert, Solly McLeod, Adam Nagaitis, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Josef Davies and Priya Kansara also starring. The eight-episode series comes from For All Mankind creators Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore, with new episodes set to arrive weekly after today’s two-part launch.

Rhys Ifans and Anna Maxwell Martin in Star City. Image Credit: © Apple TV

For CultureCues, Star City looks like exactly the kind of spin-off that can justify its existence. Rather than simply extending the original series, it appears to be opening up a darker, more politically charged corner of the same world, giving viewers a fresh angle on the space race while keeping that big alternate-history hook intact. If you have been missing For All Mankind, this looks ready to fill that space-shaped hole immediately.

Prime Video has revealed the first wave of talent for Obsessed Fest, its new immersive fan event celebrating the streamer’s growing YA slate. The one-day event will take place on 27 June at nya Studios in Los Angeles, with tickets now shown as sold out on the official event site.

The inaugural fan experience will bring audiences closer to the stars, creators and authors behind several upcoming and fan-favourite Prime Video titles, including The Love Hypothesis, Off Campus, The Devil’s Mouth, Maxton Hall, Elle, Every Year After and more.

Among the first names confirmed are Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman from The Love Hypothesis, while Benito Skinner, Wally Baram and Mary Beth Barone will appear for Overcompensating. The Off Campus line-up includes Belmont Cameli, Ella Bright, Stephen Kalyn, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Antonio Cipriano, Mika Abdalla, Josh Heuston and creator/executive producer Louisa Levy.

Fans can also expect appearances from Matt Cornett, Michael Bradway, author Carley Fortune and showrunner Amy B. Harris for Every Year After, with Lexi Minetree attending for Elle. Gavin Casalegno, Lana Condor and Tommi Rose are also confirmed for The Devil’s Mouth, while Asha Banks and author Mercedes Ron will appear for Your Fault: London. The wider line-up includes Ester Expósito from Drawn Together, Damian Hardung from Maxton Hall, Maia Reficco and Fernando Lindez from The Last Sunrise, author/producer Anna Todd, and Casey McQuiston from Red, White & Royal Wedding.

Image Credit: © Amazon MGM Studios / Prime Video

Obsessed Fest will include a Main Stage with live sessions, exclusive footage and interactive fan moments. There will also be a Book Club space for author signings, conversations, workshops and fan-favourite adaptations, alongside content creation studios where attendees can step into recreated scenes from key titles.

Prime Video has also planned screenings, exclusive merch drops, concessions and an Amazon Music Lounge, with the event designed to turn online fandom into an in-person celebration of YA storytelling.

For CultureCues, the fact tickets are already shown as sold out says plenty about how much interest there is around Prime Video’s current YA world. Between Off Campus, The Love Hypothesis, Elle and Every Year After, the streamer clearly knows these are the stories fans are already talking about online. Bringing those casts, authors and creative teams into one event feels like a smart way to turn that BookTok-level excitement into something fans can actually experience in person. This feels like a proper fandom celebration, and judging by the sold-out ticket status, the obsession is very much mutual.

Obsessed Fest takes place on 27 June in Los Angeles.

ITV has unveiled a selection of first-look images from the upcoming six-part chilling serial killer drama The Dark, starring Laura Donnelly (The Nevers, Sugar) and Mark Rowley (Trigger Point, Karen Pirie) coming to ITV, STV and available for streaming on ITVX and STV Player this summer.

The images offer a look at DI Monica Kennedy (Laura Donnelly) as she embarks on a tense cat and mouse hunt for a twisted serial killer across the Scottish countryside alongside her new partner DC Connor Crawford (Mark Rowley). Distraught mother Bethany Morgan (Helen Baxendale) is also shown, pushed to her limit after Detective Monica appears on her doorstep once again with a case linked to her missing son.

When the body of a young man is found eerily staged in the idyllic Scottish wilderness, detective Monica Kennedy fears this is just the beginning of a terrifying campaign that will strike the heart of a rural community. As paranoia rises, suspicions and secrets are forced into the light, and the locals start to realise that there is a serial killer hidden amongst them.

With her experience of dealing with the darkest of humanity Monica Kennedy quickly becomes entangled in a heightened game of cat and mouse with a cunning killer. Only she can stop this monster before he claims any more victims. But when her own history creeps up on her, she begins to lose trust in her own judgement. Will it be her own actions that are the biggest risk to herself and her family?

Ben Stephenson, Preethi Mavahalli, Luke Woellhaf and Fern McCauley executive produce alongside Hartley, with Matt Brown producing. Lena Rae and Nessah Muthy also write on the series, while Gilles Bannier serves as lead director and executive producer. The series is adapted for television by Matt Hartley and produced by Poison Pen Studios, part of ITV Studios.

For CultureCues, The Dark sounds like a strong addition to ITV’s crime drama slate. A Scottish serial killer mystery, a detective with her own past creeping back in and a rural community full of suspicion is exactly the sort of set-up that can make a six-part thriller properly addictive. Add in Donnelly and Rowley leading the investigation, and this already feels like one to keep on the summer watchlist.

The Dark is coming to ITV, STV, ITVX and STV Player this summer.

Apple TV’s new drama Star City premieres tomorrow, 29 May, with the first two episodes arriving globally on the streamer. The eight-part series expands the world of For All Mankind, taking viewers behind the Iron Curtain for a Soviet perspective on the alternate-history space race.

Set around the key moment when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon, Star City shifts the story away from the American side of the mission. Instead, the series follows the cosmonauts, engineers and intelligence officers working inside the Soviet space programme, where the race to reach further into space comes with danger much closer to home.

The series stars Rhys Ifans, known for House of the Dragon, as the Chief Designer, the figure overseeing the Soviet space programme. Anna Maxwell Martin, whose credits include Motherland and Line of Duty, plays the head of KGB surveillance watching over Star City. The cast also includes Agnes O’Casey from Black Doves, Alice Englert, Solly McLeod, Adam Nagaitis, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Josef Davies and Priya Kansara.

Anna Maxwell Martin in Star City. Image Credit: © Apple TV

Star City comes from For All Mankind creators Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore. Nedivi and Wolpert serve as showrunners and executive producers, alongside Moore, Maril Davis, Andrew Chambliss and Steve Oster. The series is produced for Apple TV by Sony Pictures Television.

For CultureCues, Star City sounds like a very strong next step for the For All Mankind universe. The original series already built an ambitious alternate version of space history, but moving the focus to the Soviet side gives this new drama a darker and more secretive edge. The mix of space-race ambition, Cold War pressure and KGB surveillance should give the series plenty of tension before anyone even leaves the ground.

Netflix has released Season 2 of The Four Seasons, with eight new episodes now streaming. The comedy-drama reunites Tina Fey, Will Forte, Colman Domingo, Marco Calvani, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Erika Henningsen as the group continues its holiday tradition after a life-changing Season 1 finale.

The new season picks up in the aftermath of Nick’s sudden death, with Ginny revealing she is pregnant with his child. As Kate, Jack, Anne, Danny, Claude and Ginny try to move forward without him, their usual group trips take on a different emotional weight. Grief follows them from place to place, old friendship tensions start to surface, and Ginny’s pregnancy gives the group one more change they are not quite ready for.

Season 2 takes the friends through a fresh set of destinations, beginning with a spring hike in upstate New York to spread Nick’s ashes. From there, the group heads to the Jersey Shore, returns to Anne and Nick’s lake house for Thanksgiving, then eventually travels to Trento, Italy. Danny and Claude also find themselves pulled towards Philadelphia, adding another personal stop to the season’s itinerary.

THE FOUR SEASONS, SEASON 2.
The main cast sees Tina Fey return as Kate, Will Forte as Jack, Colman Domingo as Danny, Marco Calvani as Claude, Kerri Kenney-Silver as Anne and Erika Henningsen as Ginny. Steven Pasquale joins as Mark Brett, a Jersey Shore arrival who crosses paths with the group while Jack is still deeply feeling Nick’s absence.

Fey, Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield are back as creators, showrunners and executive producers, with David Miner, Eric Gurian and Jeff Richmond also executive producing. Alan Alda, whose 1981 film inspired the series, produces alongside Marissa Brennan, Universal Television and Little Stranger.

For CultureCues, The Four Seasons is definitely on our watchlist. We loved Season 1 because it had that cosy, easygoing comedy feel, but it never treated the harder parts of the story like an afterthought. Nick and Anne’s marriage breaking down gave the series a real ache under the holiday set-up, then the finale’s sudden loss of Nick added a proper gut punch and left us wondering where Season 2 could possibly go next. Season 2 now seems set to follow them through that grief as they try to keep their tradition going without one of the people who helped hold it together. It is still a comforting ensemble comedy at heart, but there is clearly a lot more going on underneath, which is exactly why we are looking forward to watching.

Love Island is officially returning for its 13th summer, with ITV revealing the first Islanders heading into the Mallorca villa ahead of the show’s launch on 1 June. Maya Jama returns as host for the new season, which premieres on ITV2 and ITVX in the UK, US viewers will be able to stream the series on Hulu.

This year’s opening line-up includes 12 Islanders from across the UK and beyond, all entering the villa in search of romance. The first Islanders are Aidan Murphy (23, Kent), Angelista (24, Staffordshire), Ellie Chadwick (24, West Lothian), Jasmine Müller (27, Dubai), Lola Deal (28, Kent), Lorenzo Alessi (28, Hertfordshire), Mica Harris (21, London), Ope Sowande (27, Lincolnshire), Robyn Langton (21, Liverpool), Samraj Toor (25, Birmingham), Sean Fitzgerald (25, Galway), and Sam Workman (25, Dudley).

A New Summer of Twists, Bombshells and Villa Drama

According to ITV, the new series will once again see Islanders forced to “couple up or clear out” as bombshell arrivals, shifting loyalties and surprise twists shake up villa life throughout the summer.

Ahead of the launch, Maya Jama shared what she thinks makes a great Islander, saying authenticity matters far more than trying to play the perfect game. “The ones who really resonate are the people who understand who they are or at least aren’t afraid to find out in front of everyone,” Jama said. “Confidence helps, but authenticity is what carries someone through.” She also advised contestants to “stay open, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to be true to yourself.” Wise words!

The new season marks another huge summer for the reality show, which ITV says has now surpassed 2.5 billion streams on ITVX since first launching in 2015.

eBay, Boots and Google Pixel Return as Villa Partners

Several major brands are also returning to the villa this year, including eBay as headline sponsor. The partnership will once again focus on pre-loved fashion, with Islanders styled in curated second-hand looks throughout the series. Boots returns as the official hair and beauty partner, while Google’s Pixel 10 Pro will once again serve as the villa’s official phone, complete with upgraded AI camera features designed to capture every dramatic recoupling and late-night terrace conversation.

For CultureCues, Love Island returning every summer has basically become a TV tradition at this point. Whether it is your favourite show or your secret guilty pleasure, there is sure to be romance, awkward chats, fiery recouplings and inevitable memes. The show still knows exactly how to dominate the conversation once the sunbeds come out. Let’s just say we are fully prepared to spend the next few weeks shouting “I’ve got a text!” at the television and pretending we are not already invested.

Love Island UK Season 13 premieres on ITV2 and ITVX on 1 June.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season two arrives on BBC iPlayer today, 27 May, with all six episodes available to stream in the UK ahead of transmission on BBC One and BBC Three.

Based on Holly Jackson’s bestselling novels, the second season sees Emma Myers return as Pippa “Pip” Fitz-Amobi, who is dealing with the fallout of solving the Andie Bell case while trying to avoid any more investigations. Naturally, that does not last long. As Max Hastings’ trial approaches, Connor Reynolds’ brother Jamie suddenly disappears, pulling Pip back into another mystery with the clock ticking.

The new season is based on Good Girl, Bad Blood, the second book in Jackson’s series, and follows Pip as she searches for Jamie while wrestling with the consequences of season one. After uncovering the truth about Andie Bell’s murder and proving Sal Singh’s innocence, Pip’s world has already changed. Season two seems ready to push her even further, especially as her idea of justice starts to unravel.

Image Credit: © BBC/ Moonage Pictures

Myers is joined once again by Zain Iqbal as Ravi Singh, Asha Banks as Cara Ward, Jude Morgan-Collie as Connor Reynolds, Henry Ashton as Max Hastings, Yali Topol Margalith as Lauren Gibson, Gary Beadle as Victor Amobi and Anna Maxwell Martin as Leanne Amobi. New cast members include Eden H Davies as Jamie Reynolds, Misia Butler as Stanley Forbes, Jack Rowan as Charlie Green and Freddie England as Robin.

The first season became a major success for the BBC when it launched in summer 2024, becoming one of BBC iPlayer’s most watched titles with 16 to 24-year-olds and BBC Three’s highest-rating drama since its relaunch.

For CultureCues, this feels like a very welcome return for Pip and Ravi. The first season had the kind of mystery that kept viewers pressing “next episode,” and with a missing person case, a looming trial and plenty of emotional fallout still to come, season two sounds like it has more than enough clues to keep us hooked.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season two is streaming now on BBC iPlayer in the UK. Outside the UK, the series is available on Netflix in selected territories, including the US.
