Looking for something new to watch on Apple TV this weekend? The streamer has added two new releases for Friday, 21 August, with Stillwater returning for its fifth season and new sports documentary series The Dynasty: UConn Huskies making its debut. There is also plenty already arriving weekly on the service, including Ted Lasso Season 4, which returned earlier this month and continues with new episodes every Wednesday through October.

Stillwater Season 5

Stillwater is back with five new episodes, continuing Apple TV’s Peabody and Emmy-winning animated series based on Jon J Muth’s Zen books.

The family series follows siblings Karl, Addy and Michael and their next-door neighbour Stillwater, a wise panda who helps them work through the everyday problems that can sometimes feel much bigger than they are. Through stories, gentle humour and mindfulness, Stillwater encourages the children to look at their feelings and experiences from a different perspective.

James Sie returns as the voice of Stillwater, with Judah Mackey as Karl, Eva Ariel Binder as Addy and Tucker Chandler as Michael. All four previous seasons are also available on Apple TV, making this an easy one to start from the beginning if you have not watched before.

Stillwater Season 5 is streaming now on Apple TV, with five new episodes available.

The Dynasty: UConn Huskies

For something completely different, Apple TV has also released all three episodes of The Dynasty: UConn Huskies, a new documentary series exploring 40 years of the University of Connecticut women’s basketball programme under head coach Geno Auriemma. Directed by Matthew Hamachek and Erica Sashin, the series looks back at UConn’s transformation into one of the most successful programmes in college basketball, combining archival material with interviews from players across multiple generations.

The documentary includes Rebecca Lobo, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore and Breanna Stewart, alongside more recent UConn stars Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong. Across three episodes, it explores the team’s extraordinary success and the pressure that came with maintaining it.

All three episodes of The Dynasty: UConn Huskies are streaming now on Apple TV.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Is Also Streaming Weekly

And if neither of this weekend’s new arrivals quite fits the mood, there is always another trip to Richmond. Ted Lasso Season 4 is currently airing on Apple TV after returning on 5 August, with new episodes released every Wednesday through 7 October.

Season 4 sees Ted return to Richmond for a very different challenge, this time taking charge of a second-division women’s football team. Jason Sudeikis is back alongside Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift, with Tanya Reynolds, Faye Marsay, Abbie Hern and others.

For CultureCues, this weekend’s Apple TV additions offer two very different choices. Stillwater is the gentler option for families, while The Dynasty: UConn Huskies looks like an easy pick for sports documentary fans. And with Ted Lasso Season 4 now well underway, there is also a good excuse to catch up with Richmond before the next episode arrives. Not a bad little weekend watchlist.

Stillwater Season 5 and The Dynasty: UConn Huskies are available now on Apple TV. New episodes of Ted Lasso Season 4 arrive every Wednesday.
