How Many Episodes Are in Outer Banks Season 5?
The final season contains 10 hour-long episodes, matching the episode count of each of the show’s previous four seasons. Season 4 concluded with the first feature-length episode in the series, and its creators described that finale as the beginning of the final adventure rather than the end of the Blue Crown story.
Netflix has not announced that Season 5 will be divided into multiple parts, so fans should currently expect the full season to arrive together on 20 August. That means viewers may be able to watch the Pogues’ final journey from beginning to end without another month-long wait between episodes.
What Is Outer Banks Season 5 About?
Season 5 begins after Chandler Groff kills JJ in Morocco and escapes with the Blue Crown. John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope and Cleo are stranded far from home, mourning the heart of their group and struggling to decide what remains of their future without him.
Groff is still at large, Dalia and the Corsairs are closing in, and the Kooks are attempting to ensure the Pogues have nothing waiting for them on Kildare Island. To survive, the group must rely on the instincts that have carried them through every previous treasure hunt and form an uneasy alliance with Rafe.
The trailer shows the Pogues returning home with no money and nowhere to live before beginning their plan to avenge JJ. The Blue Crown also remains central to the story, particularly after Kiara recalls the legend claiming that it can bring back the dead. Whether that belief offers genuine hope or reflects her grief remains one of the final season’s biggest questions.
John B is also facing an entirely different responsibility after learning that Sarah is pregnant. Chase Stokes returns as John B alongside Madelyn Cline as Sarah Cameron, Madison Bailey as Kiara, Jonathan Daviss as Pope, Carlacia Grant as Cleo and Drew Starkey as Rafe.
Austin North is also back as Topper, with Fiona Palomo returning as Sofia. J. Anthony Crane and Cullen Moss have been promoted to series regulars as Chandler Groff and Shoupe.
Rudy Pankow is not listed among the returning series regulars following JJ’s death, although the character’s presence will remain central to the final story. Stokes described the season as the most demanding of the series physically, mentally and emotionally. The footage also shows that grief has changed the Pogues, with the group no longer carrying the same belief that they will always escape every impossible situation unharmed.
