2hollis has returned with “Hurt”, his first new single since the release of his 2025 major-label debut album star. The track opens a new chapter for the Los Angeles artist, producer and songwriter, pushing his sound into darker, rave-leaning territory. It arrives with a self-directed and edited music video featuring masked dancers, intricate choreography and 2hollis at the centre of the action.

The video continues the striking visual style surrounding his music, with its final frame drawing on the composition of a Renaissance painting. “Hurt” also sees 2hollis move beyond the synthetic rage rap that shaped parts of star, while keeping the sharp production and genre shifts that have become central to his work.

Released in 2025, star became a breakthrough for 2hollis, reaching No. 11 on Billboard’s Top Dance Albums chart and earning tens of millions of streams. He later sold out headline tours across North America and Europe, while also making festival appearances at Coachella and Lollapalooza.

2hollis first began making electronic music in his bedroom as a teenager, before early projects White Tiger and 2 established him as one of the underground’s most inventive new artists. His sound blends emotional pop songwriting with rap, psychedelia and industrial techno, while later releases including boy and star pushed him towards a much wider audience. He has since become an increasingly sought-after collaborator, with links to artists including Playboi Carti and former tourmate Ken Carson.

For CultureCues, “Hurt” is a strong return and a suitably dramatic start to whatever 2hollis has planned next. The track hits hard and we are already curious to see where this new chapter goes.
