Ricky Gervais is heading back to Netflix with a brand-new stand-up special titled Legend. The special will be recorded during Gervais’s forthcoming international tour, which begins in the UK this September before expanding across Europe and North America throughout 2027. Netflix has once again acquired the rights to the comedian’s latest show, continuing a partnership that has already produced the specials Humanity, SuperNature, Armageddon and Mortality. Netflix has also been home to Gervais’s comedy-drama After Life, a funny and heartbreaking series that remains a real standout for us.
Gervais has positioned Legend as a more personal show than his previous specials, while still promising the kind of blunt, deliberately provocative material audiences expect from him. “This is my most personal show so far and because both cancel culture, and most people I knew growing up, are dead, I can really say what the f**k I want now,” he said when announcing the Netflix deal.
“I’m not saying how much they’re paying me this time, but I can say it’s my favourite deal so far.”

The comedian’s previous tours have been major commercial successes, breaking box office records and performing strongly on Netflix following their release. Both Armageddon and Mortality also earned Gervais Golden Globe wins for Stand-Up Comedy on Television.
The first UK dates for the Legend tour run from September through December 2026, with additional international dates expected to be announced. Tickets for the initial UK shows go on general sale on 26 June. As with previous tours, Gervais will donate a portion of ticket sales to animal charities. His Mortality tour reportedly raised more than £2 million for animal welfare organisations around the world.

The announcement continues a busy period for Gervais and Netflix. His new animated comedy series Alley Cats is also set to premiere on the streamer on 7 August. The six-part series follows a group of feral British cats navigating life, friendship and survival, with a voice cast that includes Tom Basden, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Diane Morgan, Jo Hartley, Andrew Brooke and Tony Way alongside Gervais.
For CultureCues, Ricky Gervais and Netflix remain one of comedy’s most successful partnerships. Whether audiences love him or loathe him, Gervais continues to generate headlines and sell out arenas, and his stand-up specials consistently attract huge audiences. With Legend being billed as his most personal show yet, it will be interesting to see what topics make their way into the final special when it eventually arrives on Netflix.
