Everyone Is Doing Great is now streaming on Netflix, with both seasons available from Monday, 11 May. Created by One Tree Hill stars James Lafferty and Stephen Colletti, the indie comedy-drama has landed on Netflix through the streamer’s licensing deal with Sony Pictures Television, giving the series a new global home and finally bringing its second season to audiences.

For longtime One Tree Hill fans, this is one of those streaming arrivals that comes with a very specific kind of excitement. Lafferty and Colletti are not just familiar faces from Tree Hill, they are part of the fabric of a show that meant everything to a generation of viewers. Seeing them reunite here, this time as creators, writers, directors and stars of their own series, gives Everyone Is Doing Great an extra pull before you even press play.

Official synopsis: “Five years after their hit TV show ended, struggling actors Seth and Jeremy lean on each other while awkwardly navigating the perils of life and love as they try to make their career comebacks.”

The series follows former co-stars Seth, played by Colletti, and Jeremy, played by Lafferty, as they attempt to work out who they are after the height of their fame has passed. Their fictional hit series, Eternal, may be over, but the awkward aftermath of early success is very much still hanging over them. Alexandra Park and Cariba Heine also star as Andrea and Izzy, with the show described as a humorous and at times painful coming-of-age story about former co-stars, friends and lovers being pulled back together to face the absurdity of adulthood.

From Indie Favourite To Netflix Launch

Everyone Is Doing Great has had a genuinely interesting journey. The project began as an independent series, with its first season eventually airing on Hulu in 2021 after a crowdfunding campaign helped bring it to life. Season 2, however, has taken a much longer road to screens, making its Netflix arrival feel like a proper full-circle moment for the team behind it.

Sony Pictures Television’s Paul Littmann praised the series as “raw, authentic, hilarious, and full of heart,” calling Netflix the ideal platform to bring the show to audiences around the world.

Season 2 also brings in a strong guest cast, including Jamie Chung, Phoenix Washington, Bryan Greenberg, Jessica McNamee, Robbie Jones, Merritt Patterson, Aaron Staton, Nichelle Hines and Rhys Wakefield. For One Tree Hill fans, the appearances from Bryan Greenberg and Robbie Jones should be especially fun, adding another layer of reunion energy to the whole thing.

Why One Tree Hill Fans Should Care

Of course, Everyone Is Doing Great is its own thing. It is not One Tree Hill, and it is not trying to be. But there is something lovely about watching people closely associated with such a beloved show build something independent, personal and clearly shaped by their own experiences in the industry.

The premise taps into fame, nostalgia and the strange question of what happens after the thing that defined you. For actors once linked to a huge teen drama, there is obvious art-imitating-life appeal, but the show seems more interested in the human mess underneath than easy Hollywood in-jokes.

For fans who grew up with Nathan Scott, Chase Adams, Tree Hill, the music, the friendships and all the big feelings that came with it, this feels like a quietly exciting Netflix addition.

CultureCues Final Thoughts

Everyone Is Doing Great arriving on Netflix gives the series the kind of platform it has long deserved. It is a win for indie television, a treat for One Tree Hill fans, and a chance for new viewers to discover a show about trying, failing, pretending to be fine and somehow carrying on anyway.

Both seasons of Everyone Is Doing Great are streaming now on Netflix.
